The Ultimate Vested Interest

Two judges in Pennsylvania's Luzerne County admitted sentencing thousands of children to jail in a, for profit, privately owned and run detention center.

The two judges, Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan 'benefitted in three ways:

• First the judges received a 'kickback' for sanctioning the building of a new private sector prison in their area.
• They were paid for closing a county funded prison nearby.
• They received 'residual income' for every child they sent, and every day the kids spent in private juvenile detention centers run by Pennsylvania Child Care and a sister company.
  

So far no word on any prosecution of the prison companies!  This just has to be more than an isolated incident.  Hopefully all the morally and ethically corrupt individuals will eventually brought to justice and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Private prisons and jails for profit are the ultimate evil of our capitalist society.
